Building Your Dream Home with AR Homes® Asheville:
Pre-Construction Phase

Laying the Foundation for Your Custom Home in Asheville, Arden, Fletcher, & Western North Carolina. An Overview of the Essential Pre-Construction Steps.

PRE-CONSTRUCTION PHASE

Embarking on the journey to create your custom home is an exciting adventure. At AR Homes® Asheville, the pre-construction phase is a important part of this journey, where we set the stage for bringing your vision to life. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect during this initial phase:

Step 1: Meet Your Dedicated Team

Once you've signed the building agreement, you'll be introduced to the team who will bring your dream home to reality. This includes your Project Coordinator, Construction Manager, Design Team, and the Building Company President. Each member plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth building process.

Step 2: Navigating Financing Options

Securing the right financing is key to starting your project. Our sales team is skilled in working with a variety of both national and local lenders, ensuring you receive the best possible financing options tailored to your needs.

Step 3: Design Selections: Colors and Plans

Exterior Color Choices

You'll collaborate with our design team to choose the exterior colors that reflect your style while adhering to community standards. Whether you visit the AR Homes® design studio or prefer a virtual session, our team is here to guide you.

Interior Selections

Spend two days with the Design Team and your Project Coordinator, selecting everything from cabinetry and flooring to tile and hardware. Your selections, along with 3D renderings of each space, will be uploaded to your AR Homes® Pinterest page for easy reference. These sessions can be done in person or virtually, depending on your preference.

Step 4: Comprehensive Plan Review

Before construction begins, you'll receive your custom home plans for an in-depth review. In a meeting with the Construction Manager and Project Coordinator, every detail—down to the smallest features like door swings and hose bib placement—will be examined to ensure accuracy and alignment with your vision. Construction plans are finalized once the contract is signed.

Step 5: Obtaining ARB Approval and Building Permits

We will assist you in applying for ARB (Architectural Review Board) approval, ensuring that your home’s exterior and site plan comply with community design guidelines. This process concludes with an on-site meeting involving your Construction Manager and ARB representatives. Once approved, we'll secure the necessary building permits.

Step 6: Preparing the Site for Construction

With all approvals in place, the next step is to prepare your lot for construction. This includes tasks like clearing trees and grading the land to create a solid foundation for your new home.

Step 7: Finalizing Cabinetry and Lighting

Your Project Coordinator or Interior Designer will accompany you to local cabinet and lighting showrooms. The cabinet meeting focuses on fine-tuning the internal layout and storage solutions, while the lighting meeting involves selecting decorative fixtures that enhance your home’s ambiance.
